WWII GERMAN KNIGHTS CROSS OF THE IRON CROSS - CASED

Perhaps the most desired award of the German Third Reich! The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Awarded for extreme battlefield bravery or outstanding military leadership. As with all known originals, the cross is die struck with a three-piece constructed frame and an Iron/magnetic core. The single piece core is constructed out of an iron magnetic metal base. The two piece frame is constructed out of an "800" silver content. The top-reverse border is maker marked "2" ( known as the "Lazy 2" version) for maker C.E. Juncker along with "800" (silver content). The black matte paint is in wonderful condition 98%+ and the silver border has beautifully patinaed with time! The cross measures approximately 1 7/8 inches wide and tall (without the ring). Suspension loop correctly marked "800". Complete with award ribbon in excellent condition.
